Too little; too late.

12-4 is a great record any week, but I didn't get enough of them this season in the weekly NFL game predictions. By going 12-4 in week 16, I raised my overall record to 153-86-1 (which is 64%). Even if I got all 16 games this week correct, I still wouldn't even meet my secondary goal of 170 right (10 correct every week on average). My top goal of hitting 70% (180 correct) has been a pipe dream for a couple of weeks now. All I can do now is try to beat my record last year (167-89). And to do that I'd need to hit 15 right this last week. Usually week 17 is one of the most difficult to predict, but I thought many of these games were pretty cut and dried. Here are my picks this week:

Baltimore 17, Cincinnati 13
New Orleans 31, Carolina 24
Chicago 27, Detroit 23
Pittsburgh 17, Cleveland 9
Houston 28, Indianapolis 20
Tennessee 23, Jacksonville 14
Buffalo 24, NY Jets 16
NY Giants 27, Philadelphia 24
Atlanta 24, Tampa 17
San Francisco 31, Arizona 13
Green Bay 31, Minnesota 20
Denver 31, Kansas City 6
New England 42, Miami 21
San Diego 20, Oakland 9
Seattle 30, St. Louis 17
Washington 30, Dallas 27

There you have it, my week 17 NFL game predictions.

The Survivor Pool Lock for week 16 was another hit. Carolina did a fine job against Oakland and I think pity is the only reason it wasn't a worse beating. That makes me 13-3 in the locks to date. Here are the weekly picks and results:

Week 1 (W; 27-23) Detroit over St. Louis
Week 2 (L; 18-20) New England over Arizona
Week 3 (L; 24-27) New Orleans over Kansas City
Week 4 (W; 38-14) Houston over Tennessee
Week 5 (W; 45-3) San Francisco over Buffalo
Week 6 (W; 23-20) Atlanta over Oakland
Week 7 (W; 21-14) Minnesota over Arizona
Week 8 (W; 24-15) Green Bay over Jacksonville
Week 9 (W; 31-13) San Diego over Kansas City
Week 10 (W; 28-7) Seattle over NY Jets
Week 11 (W 30-23) Denver over San Diego
Week 12 (W; 34-10) Cincinnati over Oakland
Week 13 (W; 38-33) Dallas over Philadelphia
Week 14 (L; 21-23) Tampa Bay over Philadelphia
Week 15 (W; 24-3) Miami over Jacksonville
Week 16 (W; 17-6) Carolina over Oakland

There are no great teams left for me to choose from, and those good one's left are in matchups I don't trust enough to make a lock. There are 3 teams I have winning by 8 or more points though that I haven't taken before and while I have misgivings about each of them, there is one that at the very least I trust to have pride enough, and a coach in Mike Tomlin, who I doubt will let them have a letdown. Throw in a matchup against a QB (Thaddeus Lewis) who has never even made an appearance in a regular season game, let alone a start, and I think you have a recipe for potential success.

My Survivor Pool Lock for week 17 is: the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Cleveland Browns.

I'll post the 2012 regular season recap next week. Good luck to all and have a safe and Happy New Year!

Is our Yahoo Pick'em pool done or does it continue throughout the playoffs?

“I am hosting one league on NFL.com as well. Personally I thing there projections are way out of sync and have been less than reliable. I completely ignored them all year and instead took input from the LA at FFS which has proven to be much more accurate”. (Hooked 5 year Member)
