It's that time of year again! Time for my weekly NFL game picks and Survivor Pool Lock of the Week. For those who remember last season, I went 167-89 (65%). That was well short of my annual goal of 180 correct (which equals 70%), and so I try again in 2012 to get back to that plateau.

In my Survivor Pool locks of the week in 2011 I went 14-3. The Giants tripped me up in week 5 when they lost to Seattle. Philadelphia was my second whiff in week 10 when they lost to Arizona. And Denver handed me my third blown Lock when they lost to Kansas City in week 17.

Of course, my annual goal in Survivor Pool Locks is to go 17-0.

But that's the way it goes some years. 2012 is a brand new season and I hope to do better. Thanks go out to our member Erick for setting up a Yahoo Pro Football Pick'em account for the FFS Forums members for ease and convenience for those who wish to play. I encourage you to click thru to his post about it and join up and have some fun throughout the season. I will of course always post my picks each week right here in the blog as well.

All that said, let's get started with my week 1 NFL Game predictions and Survivor Pool lock of the week:

NY Giants 27, Dallas 24
Chicago 24, Indianapolis 17
New Orleans 38, Washington 24
Detroit 45, St. Louis 17
New England 27, Tennessee 17
Houston 31, Miami 13
Buffalo 20, NY Jets 16
Atlanta 34, Kansas City 20
Minnesota 17, Jacksonville 10
Philadelphia 27, Cleveland 13
Carolina 23, Tampa Bay 20
Seattle 21, Arizona 17
Green Bay 24, San Francisco 17
Denver 23, Pittsburgh 20
Baltimore 27, Cincinnati 17
San Diego 31, Oakland 27

There you have it: my week 1 NFL Game picks.

As you can see from some of the blowouts I'm predicting that there is no shortage of choices for Survivor Pool Lock for week 1. But I followed a formula many weeks last season and it always hit for me. That was taking a strong team playing my own personal favorite team, St. Louis. No reason I can think of for Detroit to not put the hammer down on the Rams in week 1 and although I think Jeff Fisher will get the Rams turned around in time, it's not likely to happen fast enough for them to be competitive the first week of the season against Matt Stafford and Calvin Johnson.

Survivor Pool Lock for week 1: Detroit over St. Louis.

I'm a bit earlier than normal for week 1, but I anticipate being so busy the early part of the week that I wanted to get these up in a timely manner. Usually, they'll be posted on Wednesday's each week of the regular season.

I think your picks look good and you will be competitive in your leage.

I ask one thing of you, Israel. Please repost this under the Draft section of the forum. As this section is apart of something different. It not fantasy football based off individual player's stats.

I can tell you that most of the people on this forum will provide you with great feedback now and throughout the season. They just wont be looking in here for it.

BTW, welcome to the forum! Gald to have you joined!!!!

I did pretty well picking last year overall, but I need to improve my locks of the week. Those were just terrible. Good luck to everyone.
