Russ Bliss_108 Admin Membership: Starter Joined: September 04 Total Posts: 18355 Favorite Team: Offline	Post Date: 08/23/12 10:48 Here are the top 7 players I'll take in a fantasy draft before I touch anyone else. They're listed in order of my preference for standard types of leagues where you start only 1 QB and have simple performance scoring. The order could change though in the non-traditional types of leagues. 1) Arian Foster: In 29 games played over the last 2 seasons, not all of them totally healthy as he had that hamstring issue last year, Foster has averaged 140 combined yards per game and has scored 30 total TD's. He does everything great and is number 1 on my board in almost every type of league. 2) Ray Rice: Finally got a chance to prove he could be a goal line RB in 2011 and didn't disappoint with 12 rushing TD's and 15 total. Has averaged over 1900 yards from scrimmage over the last 3 years and no RB has caught more passes, or had more receiving yards in that span. Add in the rushing TD's he now proven he can produce and Rice is a stud. 3) LeSean McCoy: Proved he could be durable and despite sitting out week 17, racked up 20 total TD's in 2011. Only concerns I have about him though are whether his small size can hold up to another season of a consistent heavy workload, and I can't imagine his TD totals going any direction but down. But I'll still take 1500 yards and 14 total TD's. Those are stud numbers. 4) Calvin Johnson: Had 11 games in 2011 with either over 100 receiving yards (twice over 200) or 2 or more TD's. At 6'5", 235 lbs with sub 4.4 speed, Megatron is in a class way by himself in terms of likely production, and upside to be even better. And he only turns 27 in September. He seriously could set some new NFL receiving records in coming years. 5) Aaron Rodgers: Since taking over in 2008, Rodgers has thrown 131 TD passes and rushed for another 16, while passing for over 17,000 yards and only throwing 37 interceptions. In 2011 he averaged over 300 yards passing in 15 games played, never threw for less than 235 in any week, only had fewer than 2 TD passes in a game once, and threw only 6 interceptions. And at only 28 years old he's only just entered the prime of his career. Rodgers has made Packers fans forget about Brett Favre in a hurry. 6) Drew Brees: Has thrown for nearly 20,000 yards and 147 TD passes over last 4 seasons. Set new NFL record with 5,476 yards in 2011 to go along with 46 TD's. Hasn't thrown for less than 4,000 yards since joining the Saints. Has only missed 1 game in that span as well. 7) Tom Brady: 5,235 pass yards and 39 TD's in 2011. He reunites this year with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. Brady threw 50 TD's the last time he and McDaniels were partnered in New England in 2007. Those are my top 7 players, the Magnificent 7. The 7 elite that I will take in any draft before I take anyone else. Any of them slip past the 7th pick, grab them and build your team around them. Agree? Disagree? Is there someone else you think should have been included? ---- On any given Sunday any fantasy team can beat another, only to still lose Monday night.

Looks great and your break down is something that supports you selections. I would make my list like this. Foster McCoy (his production since '09 has almost doubled each year) Rice (his production since 08 has been up '09, down'10, up/doubled '11) the rest is the same. ---- Football Freak

When my pick came up I had the opportunity to grab Ray Rice (we are non-PPR) but decided to build around Drew Brees instead. I won't say it was the right or wrong option at this point, will only be able to tell that at the end of the season. I think DMC is going to have a big year. I am picking at 6th place...It depends who falls to me but.//..Calvin Johnson, brees or Brady? Sometimes taking a QB isn't a bad option in the first round. I understand it sort of goes against the grain of drafting a top RB, but in a down year for top RBs, the QB position is the next best, as these players (depending on your league scoring) are usually the top scorers. BB, I can't group DMC in that group solely because of his durability. In 4 years he has yet to make it through a full 16 game schedule, has played in only 7 games the past 2 of 3 years. WHEN healthy, I agree he puts up big numbers, but if you are looking for reliability from your #1, DMC is not that.
