There are a couple of kicking battles to keep an eye on this pre-season with two potentially high powered offenses. The first is in New Orleans. Garrett Hartley is coming back from a hip injury from last season. When he went down the Saints signed John Kasay, who went on to score 147 points. Now Hartley appears to be healthy and Kasay may only be here as insurance. Whoever wins the job should be considered as a starting fantasy kicker. The other battle is in San Diego between Nate Kaeding and Nick Novak. Kaeding is one of the most accurate kickers in the league, but suffered a torn ACL and was replaced Novak. Novak may not be as accurate, but has a strong leg. It will be interesting to see who wins this battle.

Hopefully SD makes the RIGHT decision and keeps Kaeding, but know how poorly they manage their organization it would be surprise to see Novick win the job. Not sure why Norv isn't backing Kaeding, espcially after some crucial misses last year by Nobvick down the stretch.

There are other battles going on as well, in Carolina Olindo Mare against Justin Medlock, Washington has Neil Rackers against Graham Gano, and the Jets have Nick Folk against Josh Brown.

I'm still wondering why the Panthers released Kasay last year and signed Mare. Kasay is as accurate kicker as they come. Granted he's getting older and can't kick the 50+ like he used to but from inside 50 he's money. Mare missed a couple chip shots last year. One of which would have won us a game. And with them moving the kickoffs up last year that wouldn't have been a problem for Kasay.

“I am hosting one league on NFL.com as well. Personally I thing there projections are way out of sync and have been less than reliable. I completely ignored them all year and instead took input from the LA at FFS which has proven to be much more accurate”. (Hooked 5 year Member)
