How quickly we forget the mad dash GM's and HC's took to convert to a 3-4 defense over the past five years, only to watch now almost every team quickly converating back to a 4-3 (see entire AFC East). Not so long ago Belichick and LeBeau were getting phrase from their peers as those defenses were dominating. What has changed? I agree with the masses more 3-4 receiver sets.
The real question here is why are there more 3 and 4 receiver sets? Because of the outstanding athleticism on defense, that requires offenses to spread them out. Some say the game is evolving, I say reverting- as in back to what the AFL did in the 60's- let it fly on offense.

Very true. But one things we've seen in the NFL is that everything (offense and defense) go thru cycles. Whereas we were in a big RB cycle until the last couple of seasons, we are now in a big QB cycle.

Offensive coordinators figured out how to defend against the 3-4 scheme and I also think the lack of true pass rushers hurt it.

4-3 is just a better defense for putting on pressure.

“I am hosting one league on NFL.com as well. Personally I thing there projections are way out of sync and have been less than reliable. I completely ignored them all year and instead took input from the LA at FFS which has proven to be much more accurate”. (Hooked 5 year Member)
