2012 IDP Rankings: Top 50 Defensive Backs

by Robert Kirlin; aka The IDP Guru (7/22/12)

Robert finishes up his IDP top 50 lists with the Defensive Backs. Love his comment about Charles Woodson (DB ranked 24th). Not just because it is funny, but it also rings of some truth. We appreciate that each year Robert is willing to share his passion of the IDP's with our members by creating these pre-draft rankings. He also spends time on our Forums answering IDP questions both in preseason and during the regular season. So if you play in an IDP league and have any questions, be sure to post it! - Russ Bliss

2012 Top 50 Defensive Backs for IDP Leagues:

1. Antoine Bethea: Indianapolis. This team is too old in some areas and too young in others, Bethea will have another great year.

2. Morgan Burnett: Green Bay. With Nick Collins gone, Burnett is going to be the stopper.

3. Charles Tillman: Chicago: Another octogenarian in the Bears defense, but this is one of the most active corners in the league, and going against competition twice a year like Detroit and Green Bay, he's going to be busy.

4. George Wilson: Buffalo. Has been solid the past two seasons.

5. Charles Godfrey: Carolina. Solid tackler on a team that has a subpar and underachieving defensive line.

6. Jason McCourty: Tennessee. Best D-Back the Titans have, and is not afraid to get his nose dirty in run support.

7. Eric Berry: Kansas City. Be aware, he is coming off a torn ACL, he would be ranked higher if healthy, but keep your eye on his health in camp.

8. Tyvon Branch: Oakland. Had him on my team last year, had a slow start but came on late.

9. Troy Polamalu: Pittsburgh. Health will always be an issue with him, but he's put up good numbers last year and when healthy, he's a game changer.

10. Yeremiah Bell: NY Jets. Starting to get a little long in the tooth, but still a solid tackler.

11. Jarius Byrd: Buffalo. (Some had him ranked #1, stats didn't bear that out).

12. Roman Harper: New Orleans. (Solid).

13. Patrick Chung: New England. (Everybody Pat Chung tonight... Come on, you know you're going to sing it at your draft when you pick him. Contract year for him)!

14. Kam Chancellor: Seattle. The lesser known of one of the up and coming safety tandems in the NFL.

15. Quintin Mikell: St. Louis.

16. Antrel Rolle: NY Giants.

17. Eric Weddle: San Diego. (Hasn't played up to his potential, but still worth it as a second DB0.

18. Kyle Arrington: New England.

19. Earl Thomas: Seattle.

20. Charlie Pepprah: Green Bay.

21. Dawan Landry: Jacksonville.

22. Mark Barron: Tampa Bay

23. Ryan Clark: Pittsburgh. (Allows Polamalu to be great, he lead the Steelers last year in tackles. But please be aware, he has a blood issue that does not allow him to play in high altitudes, so he will not be playing week #1 against Denver).

24. Charles Woodson: Green Bay. I think if they were allowed, they would wheel Woodson out in a Hoveround when he turns 90 and he'd still be better than half the corners in the league.

25. Jordan Babineaux: Tennessee.

26. Deangelo Hall: Washington.

27. Thomas Decoud: Atlanta.

28. Reggie Nelson: Cincinnati

29. Devin McCourty: New England

30. Kenny Phillips: NY Giants

31. Eric Wright: Tampa Bay

32. Tim Jennings: Chicago

33. Ladarius Webb: Baltimore

34. Gerald Sensabaugh: Dallas

35. Louis Delmas: Detroit

36. Reed Doughty: Washington

37. Bernard Pollard: Baltimore

38. Malcolm Jenkins: New Orleans

39. Cortland Finnegan: St. Louis. (The former Titan joins his former coach in St. Louis).

40. Kerry Rhodes: Arizona

41. Major Wright: Chicago

42. Patrick Peterson: Arizona

43. Michael Griffin: Tennessee

44. Brodney Pool: Dallas

45. Donte Whitner: San Francisco (Big disappointment last year).

46. Brandon Flowers: Kansas City

47. Adrian Wilson: Arizona

48. Darrelle Revis: NY Jets

49. Champ Bailey: Denver

50. Asante Samuel: Atlanta

“I have been playing fantasy football for 4 years and before I never made the playoffs with other service I had, but with you guys I was high point total last year and won it all and this year high point again. I owe it all too you guys” Kevin first year member

“I have been a member for the past 2 years. Last year I placed 3rd and this year...well I am the 2009 League Champ! I do have to say though, the best thing I got out of FFS was the weekly Fantasy Alerts sent directly to my email. I had a few guys compliment me on my waiver wire pickups. Another said, "You only won because of FFS."” Josh second year member

“Thank You FFS.com you were awesome I was high point total 2 years in a row and won it all I cant thank you enough see you next year” Rick 2 year member
