2012 Training Camp Injuries: Quarterbacks

QUARTERBACKS

Jason Campbell/QB/CHI (Collarbone) - He is healthy and in camp.  At best he is an insurance pick for QB Jay Cutler, but is not worthy of drafting in any fantasy league at this point unless something did happen to Cutler.

Matt Cassel/QB/KC (Hand) - He suffered a broken right hand last season, but it is not expected to impact him this year.  He is a back-up fantasy option in most leagues and most likely is a free agent option after the season begins.

Jay Cutler/QB/CHI (Thumb) - Cutler had surgery on his thumb in the off-season, but it appears to be a non-issue this training camp.  With the addition of WR Brandon Marshall and rookie WR Alshon Jeffery, Cutler is worthy of a late QB1 selection in larger leagues.

David Garrard/QB/MIA (Knee) - He was in the running to start the season as the Dolphin's QB.  He had knee surgery and rookie Ryan Tannehill was named the starting QB.  Garrard is expected to miss the remainder of the pre-season.

Chad Henne/QB/JAX (Shoulder) - His shoulder injury appears to be a non-issue.  He is competing with QB Blaine Gabbert for the starting job, but it looks like Gabbert has the edge.  Henne has no fantasy value at this point.

Matt Leinart/QB/OAK (Shoulder) - He is expected to back-up Carson Palmer.  Leinart should not be considered a fantasy option at draft time, but could be picked up during the season if Palmer goes down.

Peyton Manning/QB/DEN (Neck) - Much as been made of the fact that he is not throwing the long ball much in this early part of training camp. Don't read too much into this.  He will be ready for Week 1 and should be considered a middle level QB1 with upside.

Matt Schaub/QB/HOU (Foot) - The injury does not appear to be an issue.  With a healthy WR Andre Johnson (hopefully), you have to look at Schaub as a strong QB2 with the potential of being a QB1 in larger leagues.

Michael Vick/QB/PHL (Ribs) - Vick was injured in the Monday Night game against the Patriots.  The X-rays were negative.  Eagles Coach Andy Reid thinks he will be ready for the regular season opener even if he misses the remainder of the preseason.  This was his second injury in preseason, first the thumb and now the ribs.  The fantasy risk factor with Vick has risen.
*** UPDATE***
He is back at practice and says he is close to 100%, but still sore.  He is expected to start Week 1, but we expect he will be feeling some discomfort.

“I have been playing fantasy football for 4 years and before I never made the playoffs with other service I had, but with you guys I was high point total last year and won it all and this year high point again. I owe it all too you guys” Kevin first year member

“I have been a member for the past 2 years. Last year I placed 3rd and this year...well I am the 2009 League Champ! I do have to say though, the best thing I got out of FFS was the weekly Fantasy Alerts sent directly to my email. I had a few guys compliment me on my waiver wire pickups. Another said, "You only won because of FFS."” Josh second year member

“Thank You FFS.com you were awesome I was high point total 2 years in a row and won it all I cant thank you enough see you next year” Rick 2 year member
